Dental Assisting Program
When it comes to starting a career in the dental field, having the right foundation is essential. For Ronny Almanzar, Cape Cod Community College’s (4Cs) Dental Assisting program has provided just that. A strong, supportive environment to turn his lifelong dream into reality.
Ronny’s passion for healthcare and helping others began early in life. “When I was a child, I always dreamed of becoming a dentist,” he shares. While exploring his options, he realized that starting with dental assisting was the perfect first step toward achieving his dream.
His journey to 4Cs began with online research and advice from dental professionals who spoke highly of the program. After comparing his options, Ronny chose 4Cs because of its strong reputation and flexible options that fit his needs. “It stood out as the best choice to help me start my career,” he explains.
One of Ronny’s favorite aspects of the Dental Assisting program has been the hands-on training. “I love the experience in the clinic, especially working on real procedures like taking x-rays and assisting with crowns,” he says. A defining moment for him was successfully completing a full set of x-rays on a patient. “It gave me so much confidence in my skills and made me realize how far I’ve come.”
In addition to the practical skills he’s gained, Ronny emphasizes the support he’s received from faculty and classmates. “The faculty are incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to help. My classmates feel like a team—we support and encourage each other every step of the way.”
Ronny’s time in the program has equipped him with skills he’s eager to use in the workforce, from taking precise x-rays to working with dental charts. After graduation, he envisions himself working in a family dental practice where he can form meaningful connections with patients and continue to grow his skills. Looking ahead, Ronny hopes to specialize in areas like orthodontics or oral surgery and eventually return to school to further his education.
The support Ronny has received at 4Cs has been instrumental in his journey. From tutoring to faculty guidance, he’s had the resources he needed to thrive. Initiatives like the free college program have also played a critical role. “It’s made it possible for me to focus on my studies without the added financial stress,” he explains.
For anyone considering the Dental Assisting program, Ronny has simple but heartfelt advice: “Go for it! It’s a challenging program, but the skills and experience you gain are worth it. It will open so many doors in the dental field.”
